Caesarion was the nickname of Ptolemy XV Caesar, the last pharaoh of the kingdom of ancient Egypt (also known as Ptolemaic Egypt). As the eldest son of Queen Cleopatra, she announced him as her co-ruler in September 44 BC, when he was just three years old.
After his mother died in the early part of August 30 BC, he was recognized as the sole ruler of Ptolemaic Egypt until his own death in later on in the same month.
Cleopatra claimed he was Roman general and statesman Julius Caesar’s only biological son. He had three maternal younger half-siblings; Cleopatra Selene II, Alexander Helios and Ptolemy Philadelphus. Their father was Mark Antony.
Cleopatra and Mark Antony were defeated by Julius Caesar’s adopted son, Octavian in the Battle of Actium and Caesarion’s reign as the sole ruler began on August 12, 30 BC. He was killed in late August, 30 BC.
