Cal Clutterbuck is a Canadian pro ice hockey player who left an impressive mark in the Ontario Hockey League between 2005-2007 before turning pro and making his NHL debut in October 2007.
Early Years
He was born in Welland, Ontario to his parents, Tim and Joycelyn. He was in the same age group of many other future NHL players from his hometown and is part of the “Welland Five” group.
He played amateur hockey as a child and was known for being a dominant scorer. He was also an all-round athlete and played other sports like volleyball, golf, and baseball. He continued to play junior hockey while attending Notre Dame College School and for the local team the Welland Cougars.
Hockey Career
Clutterbuck was first drafted into the Ontario Hockey League in 2003. He scored his first goal that year and was later drafted by the Minnesota Wild three years later in the NHL draft. During his time with the Wilds, he broke the record for most hits until it was broken in 2012.
He joined the New York Islanders in the 2013 draft, where he was made alternate captain. In 2022, he extended his contract with the team.
