This Michigan-native started playing football in his high school, at Beecher High School. He graduated in 1980 and got a degree in broadcasting from Michigan State University.
Career Highlights
Banks was the overall third pick in the 1984 NFL drafts and signed a deal to play for the New York Giants in 1984, where he stayed until 1992. He ended his first season with the team on a high note, being selected into the Pro Football Writers All-Rookie Team. While playing with the Giants teams, they won the Super Bowl in 1987 and 1990.
Banks moved to the Washington Redskins and finally retired from Cleveland Browns in 1995. This 6 foot 4 inches player launched his clothing line, G-III Sports in 1995 and became the Director of Player Development for the New York Jets in 1997. He also became a sports analyst for Sirius NFL Radio and WFAN in 2007.
