About Carl Switzer
Carl Switzer was an American actor, who gained fame as a child actor starring in the Our Gang series of short comedy films, in which he played the character Alfalfa. As an adult, he appeared in such movies as 1951's Two Dollar Bettor, 1953's Island in the Sky and 1958's The Defiant Ones. Besides acting, he was also a dog trainer and hunting guide. He was fatally shot in 1959 at the age of 31.
Family Life
He was born to Gladys Shanks and George Switzer. He grew up with three older siblings, including Harold Switzer. He got married to Diantha M. Collingwood in 1954. The marriage produced a child and ended in 1957.
Trivia
He was shot to death by a man named Moses Samuel Stiltz while fighting with him over $50, which he felt Stiltz owed him.
He died on the same day that the renowned filmmaker Cecil Blount DeMille died.
