About Carwood Lipton
For his heroic efforts in World War II, US Army officer Carwood Lipton was honored with a Combat Infantryman Badge and a Parachute Badge. The military officer also starred in an American war drama series titled “Band of Brothers”.
Personal life and Education
He lost his father in a car accident when he was young. His mother also was involved in a car accident and got paralyzed. He was the eldest of his parents. He attended Marshall University but had to drop out of school because of the financial woes his family faced.
Military Career
After he dropped out of school, he joined the army and was part of the paratroops, located at Fort Thomas, Kentucky. He joined the Easy Company unit, worked very well and became company first sergeant. He replaced the then-First Sergeant Toccoa, who had died in action in Normandy.
Aside from being in Easy Company, he joined other units like 506th Parachute and the Infantry Regiment. He served in the U.S. Army for over a decade.
He continued his education at Marshall University and got a degree in Engineering after he resigned from the army. He was employed at a glass manufacturing and plastics packaging company named Owens Illinois Inc.
Death
On December 16, 2001, the World War II veteran died of pulmonary fibrosis. He was survived by his wife and three sons.
