Caterina Valente was an award-winning singer who recorded in many languages including French, Italian, and English. She caught the attention of many music producers after performing with Bill Haley in the 1959 comedy film “Here I Am, Here I Stay (Hier bin ich – hier bleib ich)”.
She was later featured on a number of radio and television shows such as “Kraft Music Hall” and “The Entertainers”. In 1959, she released an album dubbed “Arriba!”. She was known for her hit song "Bongo cha cha cha"
Acting Career
Valente was also a famous person in the film industry. In 1954, she appeared as herself in the musical “The Big Star Parade”. She also played the Dr. Anita Rossi character in “Snow White and the Seven Jugglers” which was released in 1962.
Family
Her parents were called Maria and Giuseppe. She became the wife of Erik van Aro, a German juggler, in 1952. Their union produced a child named Eric van Aro, who would become a singer. After their divorce, the singer married Roy Budd, a pianist from Britain. They were blessed with a son named Alexander.

The French singer was honored with laurels like the Goldene Kamera, The Bambi, and the Bravo Otto.
