About Charles Ingalls
Charles Ingalls was the father of the American author, Laura Ingalls Wilder, who became famous for her book series, “Little House”. The books, which are based on Ingalls Wilder’s childhood, also feature the elder Ingalls as a character named “Pa”.
He was a successful hunter-trapper, farmer and carpenter. He is also recognized as one of the founders and builders of the First Congregational Church in De Smet, South Dakota.
Family Life
He was the son of Laura Louise and Lansford Whiting Ingalls. He married Caroline Lake Quiner in 1860 and they had five children together. The other children’s names were Mary Amelia, Caroline Celestia, Charles Frederick (who died a year after his birth) and Grace Pearl.
Death
He died from cardiovascular disease on June 8, 1902.
