About Charles M. Schulz
For almost 50 years, Charles Monroe Schulz enjoyed the spotlight as a celebrated cartoonist. In 1947, he started his first comic strip series, “Li’l Folks”.
He rose to international fame following the success and international syndication of his comic strip, “Peanuts”.
Family Life
He was raised in Saint Paul, Minnesota by his parents Dena Halverson and Carl Schulz as their only child. He had four biological children with Joyce Halverson, his wife from 1951 to 1970. From 1973 until his death, he was married to Jean Forsyth Clyde.
Achievements
He won the Reuben Award, Elzie Segar Award and Humour Comic Strip Award from the National Cartoonist Society. He was also posthumously honored with a Congressional Gold Medal.
Death
He died of colon cancer on 12 February 2000.
