He was born as Arthur W. Ferguson but was recognized by the name Charlie Tuna.

Charlie Tuna's main work in radio began in 1967 when he was offered a job at KHJ. His first radio show at the station was "Thanksgiving Day 1967". Other radio shows he hosted included "Charlie Tuna in the Morning" and "Charlie Tuna- The 70s".
He made his first television show appearance in 1980, serving as an announcer on America's Top 10. He was best known to be the host of the American television show "Cinema, Cinema, Cinema" which he ran for 30 years. To add up, he also hosted the following game shows “Time Machine”, “Scrabble”, “The Quiz Kids Challenge”, and “Scattergories”.
