About Chris Ellis
While in college, Chris Ellis performed in local theatres within Memphis, Tennessee. He found it difficult to get roles after making his on-screen debut in 1979. He finally got his breakthrough in 1990, when he was cast to play Harlem Hoogerhyde in “Days of Thunder”.
He is also recognized for his portrayal of Deke Slayton, one of the original Mercury Seven astronauts, in the film “Apollo 13”.

He was raised in Memphis’ Frayser suburb, Tennessee.
