About Chris Hoy
Chris Hoy is a celebrated British racing driver who made his name as a track cyclist. The Edinburgh-born sportsman started his cycling career at the age of 14 years when he joined Dunedin C.C. He later became a member of the City of Edinburgh Racing Club where he focused on track cycling.
His first notable competition came in 1999 when he participated in the UCI Track Cycling World Championships. Before announcing his retirement in 2013, he had competed in four Olympic Games, winning six golds and a silver medal.
Car racing
Hoy competed in his first motorsport competition during the maiden edition of the SR1 Cup. Since then, he has participated in many racing events such as the Race of Champions, British GT, and the European Le Mans Series.
Personal life
In 2010, he married Scottish lawyer Sarra Kemp. Their children are Chloe and Callum.
Education
He graduated from George Watson's College and went on to read Physics and Mathematics at the University of St Andrews. He later attended the University of Edinburgh.
Achievements
Throughout his cycling career, he won 11 gold medals at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships. He also won two Commonwealth Games gold medals. In 2009, he became a knight of the British Empire.

In 2008, he became the most successful Scottish Olympian after winning three gold medals at the Olympic Games that year.
In 2012, he became the third British athlete with the most Olympic medals.
