Christian Bale is an actor who was propelled into the spotlight at the age of 13 when he starred in the 1987 film “Empire of the Sun”. He is also known for playing serial killer Patrick Bateman in “American Psycho” as well as portraying Bruce Wayne/Batman in Christopher Nolan’s “Batman Begins”, “The Dark Knight” and “The Dark Knight Rises”.
Personal Life
Bale claimed his family had relocated to about fifteen towns before he was 15 years old, and this frequency has had influence on his career, and that he had no formal education in acting.
He married Sandra "Sibi" Blažić in 2000. They welcomed their first child, Emmaline in 2005 and the second child, Joseph, in 2014.
Films
Earlier roles of Christian Bale include playing Jim Hawkins in a 1990 film adaptation of Louis Stevenson’s “Treasure Island” and the 1993 “Swing Kids”.
He played Gorr the God Butcher in 2022 “Thor: Love and Thunder” and Captain Blocker in Scott Cooper’s 2017 “Hostiles”, among several appearances. In the former, which was directed by New Zealand filmmaker Taika Waititi, Bale stars alongside Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thomspon, Russell Crowe, and Natalie Portman.
Christian Bale is also cast in David Russell’s “Amsterdam” and Andres Muschietti’s “The Flash”.
Awards
His role as Dicky Eklund in the 2010 film “The Fighter” earned him several awards, including both Academy and Golden Globe Awards for Best Supporting Actor. He also won a BAFTA and Screen Actors Guild Awards for that same role.
Bale has won and also gotten nominations from SESC Film Festival, SEFCA Film Critics Association, Scream, Satellite, Film Critics (San Diego and San Francisco) and Prism awards.
