About Christopher McCandless
Christopher McCandless was an American adventurer and hiker who left the comfort of his home after graduating from college in 1990, donated his savings to charity and made a two-year journey across America, eventually making it into the Alaskan wilderness, where he attempted to live off the land. He survived for over hundred days all by himself in the wilds of Alaska before eventually dying of starvation in 1992. His tragic life was dramatized in Jon Krakauer's 1996 international bestselling book Into the Wild. The book was later adapted into the 2007 filmInto the Wild starring Emile Hirsch.
Trivia
According to his journal, he spent his entire time in the wild living in an abandoned rusty bus he called his "Magic Bus".
One of his last journal entries in the wilderness stated that he was extremely weak to the point where he could not even stand up. He wrote that he wanted to go back to civilization but was trapped in the wild.
His decomposing body was found by a hunter inside the abandoned bus (Magic Bus) weeks after his death.
