About Clare Balding
Broadcast journalist and author Clare Victoria Balding has become known for her coverage of sports news and events as a presenter. She started as a BBC National Radio trainee in 1994.
She has worked for the television stations BBC Sports, BT Sports and Channel 4. She has covered famous sporting events such as the Summer and Winter Olympics, Paralympics, Commonwealth Games and Wimbledon. She has also hosted “Grandstand” and her own show “The Clare Balding Show”.
Family Life
She was born to professional racing horse trainer, Ian Balding and Emma Hastings-Bass. Her brother, Andrew Balding, and uncle Toby Balding, are both successful horse trainers. She was in a civil partnership with fellow broadcaster Alice Arnold from 2006 until their marriage in 2015.
Achievements
She was named “Sports Broadcaster of the Year” in 2012 by the Sports Journalists’ Association and received the Order of the British Empire the following year.
Trivia
Her autobiography “My Animals and Other Family” was released in 2012.
