About Clayton Moore
Clayton Moore entered into the entertainment industry as a model. He started appearing in Hollywood productions in the 1930s and gradually established himself as one of the most talented stuntmen in the industry. He was famously known for playing the titular role in the “Lone Ranger” franchise.
The American actor was further used in many television shows and films such as “Sheriff of Wichita” and “Jungle Drums of Africa”.
Legal battle
Jack Wrather, creator of the famous Lone Ranger character, secured a legal order to stop Moore from playing the character in the future. The actor filed a countersuit and later changed the looks of the physical appearance of the character. In the absence of Moore, Wrather released the “The Legend of the Lone Ranger” film in 1981 which was not as successful as the previous ones which featured Moore.
Family
He was one of four children of Charles Sprague Moore and Theresa Violet Fisher. He was married four times. His first marriage to Mary Francis lasted from 1940 to 1942. Until his death, he was the husband of Clarita Petrone. He was also married to Connie Moore, and Sally Angela Allen.
Education
He graduated from Senn High School. He also attended Sullivan Junior High School, and Stephen K. Hayt Elementary School.
Achievements
In 1990, he became a member of the Western Performers Hall of Fame. Two years before that, he was made a Stuntman's Hall of Famer.
Trivia
At age 8, he started working at a circus.
He served in the United States Army Air Forces during the Second World War.
