Clive Stuart Anderson is his full name, and he is a veteran English barrister, comedy writer, TV, and radio presenter. Combining legal work and an entertainment career, he wrote many comedic scripts and experimented with comedy during his 15 years as a lawyer. In addition, he has hosted many radio shows and appeared in numerous TV shows.
Background & Education
Born in Stanmore, Middlesex, England, he attended Stanburn Primary School and Harrow County School. He is an alumnus of Selwyn College, Cambridge.
He was called to the bar in 1976 and became a practicing lawyer specializing in criminal law.
Television Career
In 1979, he performed on stage when "The Comedy Store" was opened and earned initial fame during the alternative comedy scene in the 1980s. He became very popular when he hosted the TV comedy show "Whose Line Is It Anyway."
Between 1989 and 1996, he hosted his show, "Clive Anderson Talks Back" on Channel 4. In 1996, the show was moved to the BBC, and since then, he has worked on the network and has hosted and appeared on numerous of their programs.
Awards
He received "Top Radio Comedy Personality" and "Top Entertainment Presenter" awards at the 1991 British Comedy Awards. In 2009, he received a BAFTA award for his show, "Whose Line is it Anyway?"
