South African-born rugby footballer Coenie Oosthuizen is known for his time as a player of the Toyota Cheetahs in Super Rugby from 2008 to 2015.
Rugby Career
The South African rugby Legend joined the Toyota Free State Cheetahs in 2008. He would go on to play with them for the next seven seasons.
Coenie played with the Springbok South African national U20 rugby team in 2009, while he was still playing with the Cheetahs. He debuted in the national team in 2007, beginning with a tour, and then making his test debut in 2012. His first major play was against England in Durban, playing with the Barbarians [2013], and then with the Springboks [2014]; playing on tours, the super cup, and the Currie Cup.
In 2016, Coenie was included in the South Africa ‘A’ squad that played a two-match series against the England Saxons team on a tour.
Coenie Oosthuizen is renowned for his strong runs and work rate on the pitch, though he has struggled in the scrum against the more technical scrummagers.
He signed for the Sharks on a four-year deal prior to the 2016 Super Rugby season and played with them till 2019 before he moved to join the Sale Sharks in the English Premiership Rugby.
