About Commodus
Commodus was a Roman Emperor who ruled the Roman State from177 to 192. He ruled with his father Marcus Aurelius as co-emperor from 177 until Aurelius' death in 180. In 192, he was strangled to death by his wrestling partner and personal trainer Narcissus. He was 31 years old.
Family Life
He was one of the 13 children born to Marcus Aurelius and Faustina the Younger. At the age of 16, he got married to Bruttia Crispina. The marriage was childless.
Trivia
He was a twin.
He falsely accused his wife Crispina of adultery and proceeded to banish and execute her. He then took a woman named Marcia as his mistress. Unfortunately for him, Marcia later helped his enemies to assassinate him.
He died without producing an heir and was succeeded by Pertinax.
