His career as a rugby player started in his time in high school.
He began his career by playing for the rugby league but he later changed to rugby union. He played for two clubs: the New Zealand Warriors and Newcastle Knights. He made his senior career debut with the Warriors and played for the club for two years. During his two-year stay with the New Zealand-based club, he made five appearances.
Cooper Vuna’s rugby union career began with the Melbourne Rebels union team and served as their player for two years. He played for other union teams including Toshiba Brave Lupus, Worcester Warriors and Newcastle Falcons. With the latter mentioned team, he signed a two-year deal with them in 2019, and as of 2022, he’s still in contract with the Premiership team.
Internationally, Vuna has made appearances for Australia and the Tonga national rugby union team.
