About Curly Howard
Curly Howard was the professional name of Jerome Lester Horwitz, an American actor and comedian. With his two elder brothers already vaudevillian actors, he looked up to them and aspired to join the business. His dream came true when he partnered with one of his brothers, Moe and actor Larry Fine to form The Three Stooges, a comedy trio which appeared in films produced by Columbia Pictures. His notable roles were in “We Want Our Mummy”, “Cactus Makes Perfect” and “They Stooge to Conga”.
Family Life
He was one of five sons born to Solomon Horwitz and Jenny Gorovitz. His brother, Shemp, took his place in The Three Stooges when he was no longer healthy to continue. He was married four times. Valerie Newman was his last wife as of his death. He had two children.
Death
He died on 18 January 1952 after different stroke attacks which he never fully recovered from.
