About Cynthia Weil
Cynthia Weil abandoned her dream of becoming an actress to pursue a career as a songwriter. The American was best known for her collaborative works with Barry Mann who would later become her husband. Some of their most popular works are Eydie Gormé’s "Blame It on the Bossa Nova", The Crystals’ 1962 hit single "He's Sure the Boy I Love", and "I Just Can't Help Believing" which was performed by Elvis Presley and B. J. Thomas.
Family
She was the daughter of Dorothy Mendez and his partner Morris Weil. She and Barry had a daughter named Jenn Mann, who would become a psychotherapist.
Achievements
Weil and her husband became members of the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1987. Their works further earned them many Grammy Awards, and they were also nominated for the Academy Award on many occasions.
Trivia
As a kid, she was trained as a dancer.
During the 1960s, she was one of the songwriters at the historic Brill Building in Manhattan in New York City.
Their song "A World of Our Own" was featured in the 1991 film titled “Return to the Blue Lagoon”.
