After graduating from college, in order to follow his dreams of becoming a musician, he began to perform open mics in Chicago and was later given the permission to perform in Chicago clubs such as The Earl of Old Town and The No Exit”.
In 1996, Bern launched his first studio album titled “Dan Bern”. The album was produced by Chuck Plotkin. The self- titled debut album consists of 11 tracks including the hit songs, “Go to Sleep”, “King of the World”, “Too Late To Die Young” and “Never Fall in Love”. Other successful albums by the singer include “New American Language”, “Live in Los Angeles”, “My Country II” and “Three Feet Tall”.
The songster has written songs for a number of featured films such as “Get Him to the Greek” and ``Father's Day”.
Award
Dan Bern took home an award for Best Folk/Singer-SongWriter Album during the 6th Annual Independent Music Awards held in 2007.
