About Dan Savage
Daniel Keenan Savage began his writing career in 1991 as an advice columnist for the “The Stranger”, a biweekly newspaper. It evolved with time into the internationally-syndicated sex-advice column, “Savage Love”.
Savage is also an LGBT activist, championing his cause through the establishment of his “It Gets Better Project”, the internet-based NGO aimed at preventing LGBT youth from committing suicide.
Family Life
He was born to William Savage, Sr. and Judith Schneider. He grew up in Chicago, Illinois, alongside a sister and two brothers.
Since 2005, he has been married to Terry Miller, with whom he co-founded “It Gets Better”. Their son, D.J., was adopted when he was a baby.
Achievements
He has been the recipient of a “Lambda Literary Award” and a “Webby Award for Special Achievement”.
Trivia
In spite of being an LGBT activist, he has been accused of being transphobic.
