About Dan Uggla
Major League Baseball player Dan Uggla is a former second baseman who played for the Florida Marlins, Atlanta Braves, San Francisco Giants, and the Washington Nationals. He is known for being one of the few second basemen to hit 30 home runs in four running seasons.
Early Life and Career
Uggla attended the University of Memphis and played for his college’s baseball team, the Memphis Tigers, where he was named All-American by three magazines; Baseball America, Baseball Weekly, and Collegiate Baseball.
He was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2001 and later played for other MLB teams throughout his career, retiring in 2014.
Awards
In 2006, Uggla was the recipient of three awards: the Sporting News National League Rookie of the year, Players Choice NL Most Outstanding Rookie, and the Topps Rookie All-Star Second Baseman.
Personal Life
Uggla has married twice, first to Tara Sims, with whom he had two children. In 2013, he married Janette Repsch.
