About Daniel Webster
Daniel Webster had established himself as a prominent legal practitioner prior to venturing into politics. He first served as a member of the US House of Representatives for New Hampshire’s at-large district (1813-1817) before taking a break to work as a Supreme Court attorney while living in Boston, Massachusetts.
He served in the House for a second time for Massachusetts’s 1st district. He is remembered best as the 14th and 19th United States Secretary of State under Presidents William Harrison, Millard Fillmore and John Tyler.
Family Life
The politician was born to Ebenezer Webster and Abigail Eastman as the seventh of their eight children. He himself would go on to have eight children, who survived their childhood, from his two marriages.
Legacy
He was praised for his intellectualism, great oratory skills and knowledge of the American constitution.
Death
He died on 24 October 1852 from liver cirrhosis.
