About Davey Hamilton
Davey Hamilton shot to stardom after placing second in the 1996/1997 Indy Racing League. He reached the same position the following year which made him one of the most popular people in the sport. He also competed in the Stadium Super Trucks and the IndyCar Series.
Initial retirement
After suffering a horrible accident in 2001, the American driver announced his retirement from the sport. He took on many jobs before returning to the profession in 2007. His first notable competition after his return was the Indianapolis 500.
Hamilton showed glimpses of his old self in a number of competitions before joining the Stadium Super Trucks debut in 2013. His debut came the following year at St. Petersburg’s Firestone Grand Prix.
Family
He’s the father of popular driver Davey Jay Hamilton Jr. The driver has also shared some memorable times with his daughter Hailey.

Hamilton received the Scott Brayton Award in 2011.
Trivia
In 2003, after his first retirement, he joined the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Radio Network as a commentator.
He is one of the founders of the sprint automobile series known as King of the Wing.
He has also founded a racing team called Davey Hamilton Apex Racing.
Other popular teams that he has worked with include Vision Racing and Dreyer & Reinbold Racing.
