About David Garrett
David Garrett is a recording artist and violinist from Germany. His career was inspired by the violin instrument gifted to his older brother by his father when he was four years of age. He learned to play the instrument very well and he won a competition a year after learning how to play the instrument. This landmark gave him the opportunity to study violin at the Lübeck Academy of Music at the age of seven. Two years later, he made his first professional stage appearance during the Festival Kissinger Sommer. By the age of 12, he had become a child superstar.
Garrett’s recorded albums include “Paganini Caprices” in 1997, “Classic Romance” in 2009, “Alive: My Soundtrack” in 2020, “David Garrett: Rock Symphonies – Open Air Live” in 2011, and “David Garrett: Music – Live in Concert” in 2012.
Education
He studied at the Royal College of Music, and The Juilliard School.
Family
He is the offspring of Dove Garrett and Georg Bongartz. He has a sibling named Elena Bongartz.
Awards and Achievements
In 2008, he won the Radio Regenbogen Award. Also, in 2009, he won the Goldene Feder and the Goldener Geigenbogen awards.
In 2010, he was the recipient of the Golden Camera Award for “Best Music International”. Again, Garrett won a Bambi Award in 2013. Additionally, he was the recipient of the Frankfurter Musikpreis Award in 2017.
