About David Livingstone
David Livingstone was a famous British missionary and medical doctor. He was the leader of the unfortunate Zambezi Expedition.
Legacy
Dr. Livingstone became known for the disappointment of the Zambezi Expedition and his steadfastness on remaining in Africa to continue on. It was due to his poor leadership skills and egocentrism that supposedly led to its failure. Either way, Dr. Livingstone wandered around Africa for the rest of his life contracting cholera, pneumonia, ulcers, and various other ailments. He traveled by foot and also hitching rides with slave traders. In 1873, Dr. Livingstone died in an African village of malaria. His diary and records have proven to be invaluable contributions to the British geographical community. He is laid to rest in Westminster Abbey.
Personal
When he left on his African expedition, he left behind a young wife and 6 children. In 1962, his wife went to Africa to try to find him, and she died of malaria without finding her husband.
