David Mamet, full name David Alan Mamet, is an American playwright, screenwriter, author and film director. His plays, “Glengarry Glen Ross” and “Speed-the-Plow”, received several praises from a number of people across the world.
He is also known for writing and directing the 2001 American thriller, “Heist”, which became his highest-grossing movie as of early 2020.
Family Life
He is the son of Bernard Morris Mamet, an attorney, and Lenore June, a teacher.
Mamet married Lindsay Crouse, an actress, in 1977. They had two daughters; Willa and Zosia. Mamet and Crouse divorced in 1990. In 1991, he got married to Rebecca Pidgeon, an actress and singer. They have a daughter, Clara, and a son, Noah.
Achievements
He won the London Film Critics’ Circle Award for “Screenwriter of the Year” in 1988 for the film, “House of Games” and in 1991 for the film, “Homicide”.
He also won a Pulitzer Prize for Drama for his play “Glengarry Glen Ross”.
