About David Prowse
David Prowse was a seasoned English actor, and bodybuilder, who is best known for his portrayal of Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy: 1977's Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, 1980's Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back and 1983's Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi. He is also known for appearing in such films as 1970's The Horror of Frankenstein and 1973's Black Snake. He became a household name in Britain in the 1970s for playing the Green Cross Man, a superhero created to promote general road safety in the United Kingdom.
Personal Life
He married Norma Prowse in 1963 and had three children with her.
Trivia
Despite playing the character Darth Vader in the original Star Wars series of films, he did not voice it. Darth Vader was voiced by actor James Earl Jones.
Before becoming an actor, he was a professional weightlifter, who was the 1962 British heavyweight weightlifting champion.
He battled arthritis almost all his life.
