About David Sedaris
David Raymond Sedaris credits media personality Ira Glass for helping him get into the limelight through his radio show invitations. The comedian, humorist, author, essayist and radio contributor gained popularity after he read his essay “Santaland Diaries” on “Morning Edition” of the National Public Radio in December 1992. His best-selling essay and short story collections include “Me Talk Pretty One Day” and “Let’s Explore Diabetes with Owls”.
Family Life
He is the son of Louis Harry Sedaris and Sharon Elizabeth Leonard. His younger sister is actress-comedian Amy Sedaris. He grew up with three other sisters and a brother. He has been in a long-term relationship with Hugh Hamrick.
Achievements
In 2001, he was the recipient of the “Thurber Prize for American Humor”. He has received multiple Grammy Award nominations for his audiobook “Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim”.
