About David Sylvian
In 1974, David Sylvian alongside Mick Karn and Steve Jansen, formed a new wave music group known as Japan. As their main songwriter and vocalist, the English singer contributed to a number of the group’s projects including “Obscure Alternatives” and “Gentlemen Take Polaroids”.
Solo career
After the group’s first break up in 1982, Sylvian embarked on a solo project. That same year, he collaborated with Japanese musician Ryuichi Sakamoto to release a single entitled “Bamboo Houses”. In 1984, he released his first studio album which was dubbed “Brilliant Trees”. His other successful albums are titled “Secrets of the Beehive” and “Blemish”.
Family
Outside showbiz, he’s known as David Alan Batt and was raised by his parents Bernard and Sheila. He’s the brother of famous musician Steve Jansen.
