Family and Education
He was born as David Samuel Cohen and has a Jewish background. He changed his middle name to “X” because he had the same initials with a fellow colleague who was part of the Writers Guild of America. It was also against the policy of the Guild for two persons to bear the same name.
Cohen went to Dwight Morrow High School and graduated with a bachelor in physics from Harvard University.
Marriage
He walked Betty Cohen to the altar and both have one child.
Career
It was his dream to become a scientist but also loved to write thus he decided to pursue his writing career. He began writing samples of television scripts. Through this, he was employed to write the episodes for the American adult television series “Beavis and Butt-Head”.
In 1998, he partnered with American cartoonist and writer Matt Groening to produce the sitcom “Futurama”. The series was nominated severally by Emmy Awards but had six wins. The series was aired on Fox but it got cancelled from the channel after four years of being aired. He made appearances in a cartoon form in “A Bicyclops Built for Two”, one of the episodes of “Futurama”.
Credits
He received credits for the scripts “Treehouse of Horror V” which is the 6th episode of the sixth season of "The Simpsons". Cohen was also credited for the writings of “Xmas Story” which is the fourth episode in the second season of "Futurama" and “The Why of Fry”, the tenth episode in the fourth season of Futurama.
