About Dean Kamen
Dean Kamen is a celebrated American inventor known to be the brain behind the creation of the Segway transporter. He’s also the inventor of the iBOT wheelchair with support from Johnson and Johnson. As the founder of the DEKA Research & Development Corporation tech company, he has masterminded the creation of some useful products including an infusion pumps, slingshots, and stirling engines.

His dad, Jack Kamen, worked as an illustrator.
Education
He couldn’t finish his education at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
Achievements
He became a member of the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2005. The following year, the United Nations honored him with a "Global Humanitarian Action Award". He has also received many awards including Benjamin Franklin Medal, and ASME Medal. In 1997, he was selected to join the National Academy of Engineering.
Fun Facts
Before graduating from high school, he was making around $60,000 a year. He was earning money from building sound systems and lights.
He was second on Time magazine’s 2003 list of "coolest inventions".
