Writing Career
She got her start in writing, working as the editorial assistant for The New York Review of Books. Eisenberg was employed by the University of Virginia in 1994 and then moved to Columbia University in 2011 to teach under its writing program.
Works
She has written five short story collections: “Transactions in a Foreign Currency”, “Under the 82nd Airborne”, “All Around Atlantis”, “Twilight of the Superheroes”, and “Your Duck is My Duck.”
The American writer also wrote a play titled “Pastorale”. She has contributed to magazines like The New Yorker and The Yale Review. She also has screenwriting credits for the film “Let Them All Talk.”
Awards
Eisenberg has received the following awards: the 2000 Rea Award for the Short Story, the 1987 Whiting Award, as well as six O. Henry Awards between 1986 and 2013.
She was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 2007. In 2015, she received the PEN/Malamud Award for Excellence in the Short Story.
