About Deborah Kerr
Deborah Kerr was a Scottish-born actress remembered for her portrayal of Anna Leonowens in the critically and commercially successful 1956 musical film The King and I, for which she won a Sarah Siddons Award and a Golden Globe Award. Her other notable film appearances include 1946's I See a Dark Stranger, 1949's Edward, My Son, 1950's King Solomon's Mines and 1960's The Sundowners. In 1994, she was the recipient of an Academy Honorary Award.
Personal Life
She was married twice. Her first marriage was to film and television executive Tony Bartley, with whom she had two daughters. The marriage ended in divorce in 1959. In 1960, she got married to her second husband author Peter Viertel.
Trivia
Her marriage to Tony Bartley ended because he was reportedly jealous of her wealth and fame.
During the latter part of her life, she battled with Parkinson's disease, which eventually contributed to her death in 2007.
