Delwar Hossain Sayeedi garnered massive international attention in early 2013 when he received a death sentence for his alleged involvement in war crimes during the Bangladesh War of Independence in 1971.
The Bangladeshi politician was the Member of Parliament for the constituency of Pirojpur-1 from June 1996 to December 2008. His sentence was later commuted to life imprisonment in 2014 by the Supreme Court.
