Unlike many boxing greats, Deontay Leshun Wilder debuted in the sports in 2005 at the ripe age of 20, which is considered relatively late. Within two years, he outperformed the known names in the amateur divisions of the heavyweight class to win the US championship and National Golden Gloves. He has fought in the Olympics, the amateur world championship and the World Boxing Council heavyweight championship. He has become famous for his wins by knockout.
Family Life
He abandoned his dream of playing professional football or basketball because of his bad grades and his eldest daughter’s birth while he was in high school. He used to be married to Jessica Scales. They had three children together. He later got engaged to Telli Swift, with whom he has a child with.
Achievements
He won a bronze medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Between 2015 and 2020, he was the World Boxing Council Heavyweight champion.
