Personal Life
Derek Kenneth Stepan, as he is fully called, was a student of Shattuck-Saint Mary’s and while there, he joined the hockey team. After he graduated, he studied at University of Wisconsin and became a part of the Badgers ice hockey team.
It is known that Stepan's father had also played hockey when he was younger and a few other relatives had been in sports too. In 2014, after years of being in a relationship with Stephanie Kent, they got married and have had several children together.
Career
He started playing professionally in 2010 when he was contracted by the New York Rangers and was a very welcome addition to the team. During his first game, he scored a hat trick and was hailed for his performance. Stepan stayed with the team for about seven years then in 2017, he was recruited by Arizona Coyotes. He left them in 2020 and played for Ottawa Senators before Carolina Hurricanes got him to their side and as at early 2022, he was still a part of the team.
