Deval Patrick is an American politician and lawyer known for being the 71st Governor of Massachusetts, a position in which he served from 2007 to 2015. Prior to becoming Governor of Massachusetts, he was the United States Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division.
Family Life
He is the son of Emily Mae and jazz musician Laurdine "Pat" Patrick. In 1984, he got married to Diane Bemus. The marriage produced two daughters: Katherine and Sarah.
Trivia
He is the first African-American to ever hold the position of Governor of Massachusetts.
In 2008, his daughter Katherine made a public statement revealing that she is a lesbian.
He became a grandfather for the first time in 2013 when his daughter Sarah gave birth to her son Gianluca.
