About Dick Goddard
Dick Goddard was a renowned author and television weather forecaster who was widely known for his work with WJW Channel 8, which he joined in 1966. He, however, began his television career with the WKYC-TV network.
As an author, he has been credited for writing a number of books with his popular ones being “Dick Goddard's Almanac for Northeast Ohio”, “Dick Goddard's Weather Guide for Northeast Ohio” and “Six Inches of Partly Cloudy: Cleveland's Legendary TV Meteorologist Takes on Everything–and More”.
Family
He’s the son of Vatchel Goddard and Doris Dickerhoof. He got married to Amber in 1997, but the marriage came to an end in 2004. Prior to that, he was married to Julie Ann Cashel. He had a daughter named Kim.
Achievements
Throughout his career, the American broadcaster received lots of honors including ‘Lower Great Lakes Emmy Awards’, and the ‘American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval’.
He has been inducted into a number of halls of fame including ‘Ohio Broadcasters Hall of Fame’ and ‘Cleveland Press Club Journalism Hall of Fame’.
Trivia
As of July 2020, he was included in the Guinness Book of World Record for being the longest weather forecaster on TV.
He had a brief stint with the United States Air Force.
