About Dick Sargent
After studying drama at the university, Sargent began his career as a stage actor with the group known as Stanford Players Theater. He earned his first movie role in the 1954 war film entitled “Prisoner of War”.
Throughout his career, the American starred in many films and television series, but would be best remembered for being the second person to play the Darrin Stephens character in the comedy series titled “Bewitched”.
He also starred alongside Robyn Lively, Zelda Rubinstein, and Joshua John Miller in 1989’s comedy movie “Teen Witch”.
Personal Life
His original name was Richard Stanford Cox. He was the son of actress Ruth McNaughton, otherwise known as Ruth Powell. His dad was called Elmer Cox.
He came out as gay in 1991 and was in a relationship with Albert Williams.
Education
Before studying at Stanford University, he attended San Rafael Military Academy.
Death
He died in 1994 from complications of prostate cancer.
Fun Facts
His maternal grandfather, John McNaughton, was the founder of Union Stockyards located in Los Angeles.
He picked his stage name from an artist who worked with the Saturday Evening Post.
