About Diosdado Macapagal
From 1961until 1965, Diosdado Macapagal was the 9th President of the Philippine republic. Prior to that, he held a number of high-ranking posts in government, including 2nd President of the Philippine Constitutional Convention in 1971, Vice President of the Philippines, and Member of the Philippine House of Representatives representing Pampanga's 1st district.
He was a key figure in the creation and implementation of the Land Reform Code, which was intended to address the generation’s issue of land tenancy.
Family
He grew up in an impoverished home as the third of 5 kids. His father was a novelist named Urbano Macapagal y Romero, and his mother was a midwife and educator named Escolástica Romero Macapagal. He married two times to Eva Macapagal, and Purita de la Rosa. He was a father to four children namely Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, Diosdado Macapagal, Jr., Arturo Macapagal, and Cielo Macapagal-Salgado.

Heart failure, pneumonia, and kidney problems claimed his life.
