About Don Imus
John Donald Imus Jr. started his radio career in June 1968 at the California-based radio station, KUTY. He is remembered best for his show, “Imus in the Morning”, which initially aired on a few radio stations in the Western part of the United States before finding a home at WNBC in New York City in 1979.
The show ended its run in 2018, after airing on WFAN, WABC and enjoying national syndication.
Family Life
He was born to Frances E. Moore and John Donald Imus, Sr. His younger brother was broadcaster Fred Imus.
He had two biological and two adopted children with Harriet Showalter, his first wife. He was survived by his widow, author Deirdre Coleman and their son.
Achievements
He is a National Radio Hall of Famer and was ranked amongst the all-time 25 greatest talk show hosts in 2002 by Talkers magazine.
Death
He died on 27 December 2019 from prostate cancer.
