Don S. Davis, in full Donald Sinclair Davis, was a renowned American film star, most revered for his character acting roles. Aside from acting, he was also a brilliant painter, theater professor, and US Army veteran.
Background, Early Life & Education
He is a native of Aurora, Missouri. Davis entered the US army in his youth, participating in the “Vietnam War” and leaving the force as a captain.
Don holds a BSc degree in art and theater from Southwest Missouri State College. In addition, he also has a Master’s Degree and Ph.D. degree in Theater from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
However, he lectured at the University of British Columbia in the 1980s but eventually stopped lecturing in 1987 to pursue a full-time acting career.
Acting Career Highlights
Davis is best known for his recurring role as Major Garland Briggs on the popular TV series “Twin Peaks” between 1990 and 1991. He also earned great acclaim for playing the character of General Hammond in “Stargate SG-1” between 1997 and 2007.
However, he played recurring roles in numerous TV shows such as “The X-Files,” “MacGyver,” and “Madison.” In addition, Canadian audiences would mostly remember him for his guest appearance in “Heritage Minutes.”

He was married to Ruby Fleming from 2003 until he died in 2008. The actor died at age 65 in 2008, after suffering a severe heart attack.
