About Don Williams
Donald Ray Williams, better known as Don Williams, pursued a career in the country music genre as a singer and songwriter for close to five decades. He launched his career in the mid-1960s as a member of the Pozo-Seco Singers, a folk-pop group.
Two years after the group’s 1969 disbandment, he started writing songs for singer Jack Clement. His debut solo album, “Don Williams Vol. 1” was released in 1973.
Through various number 1 singles including “I Wouldn’t Want to Live If You Didn’t Love Me”, “’Til the Rivers All Run Dry” and “It Must Be Love”, he has continued to stay popular in many countries.
Family Life
He was raised in Portland, Texas as the last of the three sons of James Andrew Williams and Loveta Mae Lambert. He had two children with Joy Janene Bucher, to whom he was married to since 1960.
Achievements
He is a Country Music Hall of Fame inductee. In 1978, he was the recipient of an Academy of Country Music Award and a Country Music Association Award.
Death
He died from emphysema on September 8, 2017.
