The Emmy Award winner is well-known for portraying the character of Opal Sue Gardener on “All My Children”, a soap opera created by TV writer and producer Agnes Nixon. Lyman appeared in episodes of “CSI: Miami”, “Law & Order” and “The Blacklist”.
Family
She married Vincent Malle in 1987; however, they separated in 2001 after fourteen years of marriage. She was previously married to John Tillinger. That marriage lasted from 1971 to 1983.
She has three children, including American film producer Emma Koskoff.
Career
She played the role of Gwen Frame on the ABC television series “Another Life” from 1981 – 1983. The actress also appeared as Julie Stark in the 1971 drama “A World Apart”.
In 1993, Lyman starred as Mildred Chambers in “Ruby in Paradise”, a film directed and written by Victor Nunez. In the film, she starred alongside Ashley Judd and Todd Field.
Lyman also appeared in the 1984 film “Summer Fantasy”, playing the character of Dr. Nancy Brannigan.
From 1983 – 1990, the actress was cast as Naomi Oates Harper in the American television sitcom “Mama’s Family” and starred alongside Vicki Lawrence, Rue McClanahan, and Betty White.
Following the end of “Mama’s Family”, Layman produced and directed 75 episodes of actress Fran Drescher’s sitcom “The Nanny”. She made guest appearances on the show. She also played a repeated role on the CBS sitcom “Bob” in 1990.
Honors
Her role in “All My Children” earned her two Emmy Awards - “Outstanding Actress in a Supporting Role in a Daytime Drama Series” in 1982 and for “Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Drama Series” in 1983.
