Dorothy McGuire was a veteran American actress who rose to prominence for her outstanding performances in the drama films “Gentleman's Agreement”, for which she earned an Academy Award nomination for ‘Best Actress’, and “Friendly Persuasion” for which she won the National Board of Review Award for ‘Best Actress’.
She is known to have appeared in over forty films for both the big screen and television during her entire acting career, which spanned from 1943 to 1990.
In almost every character she played in the movies, she exuded outstanding honesty, decency, and practicality, and she possessed more skill than Hollywood demanded of its female stars.
She was warm-hearted and calming and had a flair for drawing tears to the audience's eyes throughout her performances. Her other noteworthy works include "This Earth Is Mine", "Flight of the Doves", "Highway to Heaven", and "Rich Man, Poor Man".
