About Douglas Kenney
The screenwriter Douglas Kenny was primarily known as the founder of the National Lampoon magazine. The magazine was a humor type of magazine and it operated from 1970 to 1998.
Personal life
Kenny was of Irish descent and he was the son of Daniel Harold Kenny and Estelle Karsh. He studied at Gilmour Academy located in Ohio and Harvard University.
In 1970, he walked Alexandra Appleton Garcia-Mata down the aisle but their marriage ended three years later. Few years later, he married American television actress Kathryn Walker.
Career Highlights
His career started during his days at Harvard. While in Harvard he served as the editor for the Harvard Lampoon. After graduation, he founded the National Lampoon with Robert Hoffman.
His first screenplay was in the comedy film “Caddyshack” which he co-wrote with Brian Doyle-Murray and Harold Ramis in 1980. Other films he wrote included “National Lampoon Animal House” and “Modern Problems”.
Achievements
He was nominated by the Writers Guild of America for the film “National Lampoon Animal House”.
Death
Kennedy met his untimely death in 1980 after he fell from the Hanapepe Lookout. He died at the age of 33.
