Family Life
He was the youngest of the three sons of Mary Pinkney and U.S. Army captain Arthur MacArthur, Jr. He was married twice to Louise Cromwell Brooks and Jean MacArthur.
Achievements
He was the recipient of over 100 military decorations, including the Medal of Honor, two Purple Hearts, Air Medal, Bronze Star and 7 Silver Stars among others. He also received the French Légion d'honneur and Honorary Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Bath from Australia.
Trivia
He was the only American to become a Field Marshall in the Philippine Army.
